The Divosan® Sani Range comprises two new quat-free detergent/ terminal disinfectants for open plant cleaning applications in the food, beverage and dairy industries. They meet ever more stringent requirements that reflect the limiting of the use of quaternary ammonium compound-based disinfectant products with the potential to leave surface residues. A broad-spectrum solution, which exceeds the current industry benchmark; the Sani Range provides the convenience of having one product to clean and disinfect, saving significant time and effort, while exhibiting improved performance measured against traditional formulations for hard surface disinfection.
Northampton, 4. December 2018 – The Divosan® Sani range has been developed by Diversey – the leading global hygiene and cleaning company – to meet the ever more stringent requirements of the current regulatory environment in the food industry. In particular, reflecting that more customer groups and countries are limiting the use of quaternary ammonium compounds (QAC) in food production facilities due to the introduction of more stringent residue controls. This includes the implementation of MRL (maximum residues level) in Europe for dimethyl didecyl ammonium chloride (DDAC) and benzalkonium chloride (BAC) – which has been redefined to 0.1 mg/kg.
Diversey’s Divosan® SaniSigma and Divosan® SaniPerfect are two new quat-free detergent/terminal disinfectants for open plant cleaning applications in the food, beverage and dairy industries. The Divosan® Sani range of disinfectants are food safe and deliver improved performance measured against traditional formulations available for hard surface disinfection – both for food contact and non-food contact surfaces.
Divosan® SaniSigma is the premium choice and has been independently assessed for biocidal efficacy and passes EN1276, EN1650 and EN13697 at 1%. In field trials in high-care production areas at low temperatures in accordance with standards developed by an international retailer. It contains a combination of sequestrant and alkaline builders, which together ensure a highly effective soil removal and disinfection action against most vegetative forms of micro-organisms – including gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeasts and mould including Aspergillus brasiliensis. Delivered by soak or spray applications, Divosan® SaniSigma has additional foaming properties which allows facilities the flexibility to use the disinfectant with suitable foam equipment.
Divosan® SaniPerfect delivers broad efficacy at a very attractive cost in use and produces excellent disinfection results. The Divosan® Sani range is supported under the European Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) for cleaning and disinfecting applications.
Both Divosan® SaniSigma and Divosan® SaniPerfect have been tested and endorsed as non-taint by independent laboratories and deliver broad spectrum terminal disinfection even at low temperatures.
Dr. Henry von Rège, R&D at Diversey Food & Beverages, comments: “QAC’s – such as DDAC and BAC – provide a biocidal effect against microorganisms and have been commonly formulated into disinfectants/sanitizers used in the food industry. However, following analysis by food business and regulatory authorities in Europe it has been shown that QAC based disinfectant products have the potential to leave surface residues when not rinsed. Although local regulations often require rinsing, the Sani range offers the confidence of an effective non-tainting alternative. It also provides operators with the convenience of an effective broad-spectrum solution, which exceeds the current industry benchmark; as well as the convenience of having one product to clean and disinfect, which saves significant time and effort.”

Diversey Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR) Statement
Diversey products are supported, or are currently in the process of being classified compliant, under the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR), EU Regulation 528/2012. This regulation aims to improve the functioning of the biocidal products market in the EU, harmonising proceedings regarding the placing on the market and use of biocidal products, while ensuring a high level of protection for humans and the environment. All of the active ingredients used in the Diversey™ biocides currently on the market comply with European regulatory requirements.
Under the BPR, biocidal products are only allowed for sale in a European country with an authorisation. This authorisation is based on the evaluation of a product dossier by the government (competent authority). The dossier requirements and evaluation – which needs to demonstrate efficacy of the product as well as worker and environmental safety – standardises the process which previously varied in each country. Diversey is committed in providing a broad range of biocides and are investing significantly to support our product range for the applications they are designed for.
